- Successfully trained throughout a twin pregnancy

- Improved strength and body composition
- Built lasting skills around movement and recovery
“I felt confident, strong, and supported every step of the way.”
Starting Point
When Kelsey joined Control Lab 4½ years ago, she was already active but wanted more structure and purpose in her workouts. She wanted a coach who was knowledgeable, approachable, and willing to meet her where she was.
The Goals
Her initial goal was consistency, overall wellness, and building strength. Along the way, those goals expanded to include:
- Training for a marathon
- Staying strong and healthy throughout pregnancy

The Biggest Obstacle
Pregnancy and postpartum brought entirely new challenges. Training safely while pregnant with twins required thoughtful modifications without losing momentum.

The Experience
Over the past 4½ years, Control Lab has provided more than workouts. Every session has been challenging, educational, and personalized. Whether working through an injury, learning proper movement, or improving recovery, Kelsey has always felt supported and heard.

Joe’s Story
Training to Be the Dad He Wants to Be
A few months into paternity leave, Joe wanted the structure and accountability to rebuild his fitness—not only for himself, but so he could be an active, present dad for years to come.
- Became stronger than ever
- Built momentum while navigating aches and injuries
- Gained confidence and optimism about aging
- Models a commitment to health for his daughter
“It’s worth putting yourself front and center for a few hours each week.”
Starting Point
When Joe started at Control Lab, he was a few months into paternity leave—equal parts tired and excited. With a new addition to the family, he was finding it tough to keep up with his physical fitness. He knew that staying consistent would require structure, accountability, and a plan.
The Goals
Joe’s biggest motivation was becoming the kind of dad he wanted to be. He did not want to be a dad who simply takes his daughter to soccer or basketball practice; he wanted to be the dad who practices with her.
Knowing he will be 50 by the time she is 10 made him realize that the work starts now. He wants to be strong, active, and able to keep up with her for years to come.
The Biggest Obstacle
Injuries were Joe’s biggest obstacle. His list of tweaks, aches, and pains seemed to keep growing, with new issues being added while nothing came off the list.
He needed expert guidance to work around those issues without giving up his desire to challenge himself physically. He wanted to train hard, but he also wanted to train intelligently.
The Experience
The more time Joe put in—and the more he communicated with his trainer, Stacey—the better Stacey came to understand his body’s abilities and limitations.
In the beginning, it sometimes felt like two steps forward and one step back as his body adjusted to new exercises and movements. Once they built momentum, Joe began making much more consistent progress. Now, he feels like he is continually moving forward.
The Results
- Feels stronger than ever
- Built a consistent training practice around his body’s needs
- Models commitment to exercise and self-care for his daughter
- Feels more confident and optimistic about getting older
- Knows today’s work will continue paying dividends for years
Joe’s Advice
“We invest so much of our time and energy into other people every single day through our work and personal lives. It’s worth putting yourself front and center for a few hours each week.”
Why Control Lab
With guidance tailored to his abilities and limitations, Joe found a way to challenge himself while training intelligently. And he did it with Philly’s #1 Jay-Z hater, Stacey.

Beth’s Story
When Strength Becomes More Than a Workout
What began as a desire to feel less intimidated by the gym became a source of strength, confidence, and community—especially through a challenging year of surgery and recovery.
- Built strength and confidence with weights and gym equipment
- Returned to classes three months after surgery
- Regained strength and range of motion with thoughtful modifications
- Found a meaningful outlet for stress and a supportive community
“You don’t have to know what you’re doing when you walk through the door—you just have to walk through the door.”
Starting Point
Beth had always been active, but had never had a gym membership, lifted weights, or really used gym equipment. Gyms and strength training felt intimidating. After having her kids and approaching 40, she wanted to get genuinely strong—not only to keep up with them, but to prioritize her health and see what her body was capable of.
The Goals
Initially, Beth wanted to get stronger and feel more confident using weights and gym equipment. As she became more comfortable, that goal evolved into a bigger question: how strong and fit could she actually become?
After taking time away for surgery, her goal is to return to her previous fitness level—and then surpass it.
The Biggest Obstacles
At first, her biggest obstacle was intimidation. She was completely new to strength training and did not know what she was doing.
More recently, Beth was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy. Having to step away from a routine that had become an important outlet for stress was incredibly difficult.
The Experience
Control Lab has become a huge part of Beth’s life. She usually takes at least three classes a week and has also done personal training and kickboxing with Stacey—an empowering, ridiculously fun, and exhausting experience.
The support around her surgery showed her what a special community Control Lab is. Now, three months post-surgery, she is back in class. Every instructor has adjusted exercises for changes in her strength and range of motion while still finding ways to challenge her.
The Results
- Became stronger than ever before
- Built confidence using weights and gym equipment
- Created a consistent, meaningful routine
- Returned to training after surgery and is approaching her previous baseline
- Gained confidence, stress relief, and a sense of accomplishment
Beth’s Advice
“Don’t be intimidated. I started without ever having lifted weights or used gym equipment, and now I can’t imagine my life without it. You don’t have to know what you’re doing when you walk through the door—you just have to walk through the door.”

Dee Dee’s Story
Stronger Than She Ever Thought Possible
Once intimidated by the gym and unsure where to begin, Dee Dee discovered strength training with Victor. Consistent, sustainable coaching helped her lose 35 pounds, transform her body composition, and build strength she never imagined possible.
- Lost 35 pounds and developed lean muscle
- Bench presses more than her body weight
- Leg presses more than 360 pounds
- Performs unassisted pull-ups and advanced alpine hikes
“You are stronger than you think! The greatest gift you can give yourself is consistency.”
Starting Point
When Dee Dee first started training with Victor, she had made a few attempts to develop a fitness routine, but other than cardio, she truly did not know where to begin. She had never done any strength training and had grown up thinking of herself as one of the “smart kids,” never one of the athletic kids.
The gym felt intimidating, and she had no idea what she was doing. Being introduced to Victor changed that—and ultimately changed her life on every level.
The Goals
Living in a small community in upstate New York with only one local gym, Dee Dee needed an approach that worked with the resources available to her. Victor helped her think about what she wanted to achieve and supported her every step of the way.
Her original goals were to lose weight and get into better shape. As she became stronger and her body began to change, those goals evolved. Training became a way to challenge herself mentally, physically, and emotionally.
The Biggest Obstacle
Dee Dee’s biggest obstacles were fear and inexperience. She was unfamiliar with strength training, intimidated by the gym, and unsure what her body could accomplish.
She also wanted lasting progress—not a short-term fitness or dieting fad that would create quick but unsustainable results.
The Experience
Victor provided the balance Dee Dee needed: encouraging her to challenge herself while respecting the moments when her body told her to slow down. His balanced, body-positive approach made her feel respected and supported throughout the process.
Together, they focused on sustainable habits, proper training, and long-term change. Victor’s knowledge, encouragement, and accountability helped Dee Dee develop a lifelong love of fitness.
The Results
- Lost 35 pounds
- Transformed her body composition and developed lean muscle
- Progressed from being unable to do one push-up to performing unassisted pull-ups
- Bench presses more than her body weight
- Leg presses more than 360 pounds
- Lifts weights she never imagined she could handle
- Completed an advanced alpine hike in Montana
- Developed a lifelong love of fitness
A Defining Moment
On a recent trip to Montana, Dee Dee completed a beautiful hike graded as advanced and alpine. A few years earlier, finishing it would have been extremely difficult.
Standing at the top of the mountain and looking down at the glaciers, she recognized just how far she had come—in more ways than one.
Dee Dee’s Advice
“You are stronger than you think! And the greatest gift you can give yourself is consistency! Just keep showing up, keep training, and you will see yourself become a new person in so many ways!”
Why Control Lab
“I can’t thank Victor enough for supporting me with knowledge, encouragement, and accountability. He opened me up to a lifelong love of fitness that has helped me in so many ways!”
