Personal Training for Beginners and People With Old Injuries in Philadelphia
One of the biggest misconceptions about personal training is that you need to get in shape before you start. A personal trainer should help you figure out where to start.
At Control Lab, we meet you where you are and help you become the strongest version of yourself. We often say that the heaviest weight you may lift is the front door the first time you walk in. Once you do, you will find a welcoming Philadelphia gym where people at every stage of their fitness journey can feel comfortable getting stronger.
Personal training for beginners
If you have never lifted weights before, walking into a gym can feel overwhelming. You may wonder which exercises to do, how much weight to use, whether your form is correct, and how often you should train.
Personal training removes much of that guesswork. Your coach teaches you how to perform each exercise, chooses an appropriate starting point, and gradually progresses your program as you become stronger and more confident.
What about previous injuries
During your complimentary consultation, your trainer will review your injury history, current concerns, and movement patterns. From there, we can build a plan around your needs and help you progress at an appropriate pace.
Depending on your situation and medical guidance, your trainer can adjust your range of motion, resistance, equipment, exercise selection, and rate of progression. The goal is to help you build strength with a plan that meets you where you are today.
If you are currently injured, experiencing unexplained pain, or have not been cleared to return to exercise, we may recommend speaking with your healthcare provider first. Personal training does not replace medical care or physical therapy.
What happens at the first appointment
You do not need to commit to personal training before meeting us. Every new personal training relationship at Control Lab begins with a complimentary consultation.
During the consultation, we will discuss:
Your goals
Training experience
Previous injuries or current limitations
Current activity level
Schedule and availability
What you are looking for in a trainer
Most importantly, you will meet your coach, ask questions, and determine whether working together feels like the right fit.
